Christ Church (Angelican/Episcopal Church)

The British Garrison Church (Christ Church) was built at 105 Yamashita-cho in 1859. Christ Church was rebuilt at 235 Yamate in 1864. The 2nd Christ Church built of red bricks from Glasgow and designed by Joshiah Conder turned to rubbles in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. The 3rd Christ Church rebuilt in Norman-Gothic style by J. H. Morgan in 1931 was damaged by American air raid of 1945. It was restored and reopened in 1947. The Christ Church restored in 1990 was badly damaged by arson and full restored in 2005.
